Yamaha Motor Europe is pleased to unveil the calendar for the 3 Yamaha R2022 bLU cRU European Cup, which will once again take place as part of the FIM Superbike World Championship.

After a successful inaugural season, excitement is already building for the second edition of the Yamaha R3 bLU cRU European Cup with high interest from around the world. Already, young people from Australia, North and South America, as well as Europe, have expressed their interest, in the hope of taking a step towards the summit of the motorcycle competition with Yamaha.

The 2022 campaign will begin with a pre-season test at MotorLand Aragón on March 18, where young people, aged 14 to 20 for this year, will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with their Yamaha R3 motorcycles.

The Spanish venue will also host the first round of the Yamaha R3 bLU cRU European Cup on April 8-9, before heading to Assen in the Netherlands on April 22-23. The paddock will then take a six-week break, before returning to Misano on June 10-11, which hosted the first ever round of the championship earlier this year. In July, the youngsters will compete at Donington Park (July 15-16) and Most (July 29-30), while Magny-Cours will host the final on September 9-10, where the second winner of the championship will be crowned.

The race weekend format will follow the same schedule as in 2021, with a 30-minute free practice session followed by a Superpole qualifying session. There will be two chances to fight for victory each weekend, with both races taking place on Saturday.

Whoever comes out on top at the end of the year will earn an entry into the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship with Yamaha for next season. The runner-up will be offered a WorldSSP300 wildcard for the following season, as well as a 50% reduction on their registration for the 3 Yamaha R2023 bLU cRU European Cup, which will also be granted to the rider who finishes third.

Yamaha is also committed to making racing as safe as possible, and therefore this year all riders will receive Gimoto racing suits equipped with mechanical airbags, as well as an innovative ICE-KEY device that carries all medical and contact in one easy-to-use app.

Although the entry list is filling up quickly, riders can still register their interest in the 3 Yamaha R2022 bLU cRU European Cup here.

Andrea Dosoli, Road Racing Director of Yamaha Motor Europe: “We have again had very great interest in the second edition of the Yamaha R3 bLU cRU European Cup. This year there will be six rounds made up of two races, and young people will have the opportunity to ride on some of the best circuits in Europe as part of the WorldSBK weekend. This is a great opportunity for young people to showcase their talent in front of world championship manufacturers, teams and drivers, which will give them an extra edge in their careers. We have also been very conscious of the safety of these young drivers, and we have made several changes to improve this aspect of the championship. We look forward to seeing the drivers on track for the first time this year at the Aragón test, before the start of the second season.”
