After 5 years of frantic work, the Spanish channel Movistar has thrown in the towel and will no longer broadcast MotoGP in Spain, the latter now being broadcast on the DAZN streaming platform, owned by the group Perform, against around ten euros per month

Movistar, which will no longer appear on the official Yamahas either, was very active on the airwaves and in the paddock, where there was a real mobile studio in which most of the riders paraded to feed the live hours hosted by the team ofErnest Riveras. By way of illustration, this included for example Alberto puig before the taciturn Spaniard was called to lead the Repsol Honda team and replaced by Randy Mamola, Alex Criville completing the picture of celebrities.

In short, a very large structure and good work which allowed the Spanish audience of MotoGP (however boosted by the impossibility of having a pass on the official website MotoGP.com) to always stay ahead of that of F1, despite the abandonment of the rebroadcast by Vodafone in 2018.

But beware ! We are very far from the tenacious idea of a Spain passionate about motorcycles to the point of paying any subscription (10 euros per month for Movistar customers, with F1 included in the Motor pack, much much more for others) , and, since the departure of Mediaset, the audience figures were ridiculously low for a country of 46 million supposedly passionate inhabitants: on average, 280 viewers in 000, roughly the same figures as in France on Eurosport, and far from the 2018 million viewers in Italy, split 4/30 between Sky (pay) and TV70/Cielo (free).

Fortunately for them, most of the Movistar team, starting with Ernest Riveras, has relocated to DAZN, where we expect a subscription and content as close as possible to that of the late Movistar MotoGP, especially since a rumor even announces the possible arrival of Dani Pedrosa in the team concerned…

“Et en France, Anne, ma sœur Anne, ne vois-tu rien venir ? “ Not yet !

In any case, nothing official, even if it seems that the series of auditions for the many applicants at Canal + is now over and has resulted in two or three well-known names in the motorcycle world... most of which from Eurosport!

These are of course only rumors at the moment but a structure very similar to that of last year seems to be gradually emerging, with two pairs of commentators composed of a journalist and a motorcycle champion, the 'one for MotoGP (possibly David Dumain + Randy de Puniet), the other for Moto2 and Moto3 (possibly Laurent Rigal +… ?), as well as a team in pit lane with HF camera (most certainly Marina Lorenzo +… ?).

A priori, no specific “engines” offer including F1 and MotoGP will be offered, and we keep our fingers crossed that the different categories are not scattered between Canal + and Canal + Sport, which would then require a subscription to 39,90, XNUMX euros, if we are not mistaken in the labyrinth of offers from the encrypted channel. Without any guarantee, there is also talk of a possibility of new financial conditions from March…

There are therefore still many uncertainties about the system that will actually be put in place on the air (what about the 6 dates where MotoGP and F1 compete?), but all this should be announced within a few weeks at the latest, in February, during an official presentation with the presence of our two MotoGP riders, Johann zarco et fabio quartararo.
