Warning :

Unlike the vast majority of articles on our site, this new section does not only report information, it leaves a certain freedom, even a certain freedom, to the thoughts of its author accustomed to the literary world who will publish under the pseudonym Vernon Stoner.

Here, we relate, of course, but we also extrapolate, we speculate, we construct, in short, we discuss and exchange!

You have the right to respond in comments, to correct, to proclaim your indignation, or, at worst, if it really gives you heartburn, to change the section...

Are you still there? Little curious people, go… Come on, gaaazzzz!

It was planned to combine everyday bikers with those who compete, but I had underestimated the enthusiasm that this survey would cause. The mass of data to be processed is already considerable, I will talk about women pilots in a future column.

PART 3/3

The women who whispered about motorcycles…

We begin this third and final part with a series of general questions that do not lend itself to controversy. Damage…

17. Do you use your motorcycle?

42,2%: Every day, work and walk

40,5%: The weekend

17,3%: Not often

18. How many kilometers do you do per year?

35%: 5000

32%: 10 000

33%: 15 000 and more

Special mention to “ I don't know, when you love you don't count " and " 8000 km when the bike doesn't break down and I'm not pregnant "!

19. Have you noticed any price differences with men regarding insurance?

57,8%: I do not know

32,8% : No

5,9% : Yes, it's cheaper

3,6% : Yes, it's more expensive

Here again, I don't have the men's figures, but I think it doesn't matter much. Or maybe I'm completely wrong? Regardless, it's not going to change the face of the world.

On the other hand, I wonder about the insurance policy... Why do we find the most expensive and the least expensive? Before this survey, I would have bet on less expensive based on the fact that girls are much less hotheaded than guys. This is common knowledge, and insurers should probably take it into account at least a little. Charging the same prices makes sense too. This is in line with the dogma of equality between men and women which tends to be established, in addition to allowing insurance companies not to make discounts. Well, a penny is a penny! But more expensive? I wonder... Ah, I'm there! The myth of girls who already don't know how to drive a car... So a motorcycle... I recommend those who think that to get in behind Maria Herrera ou Ana Carrasco ! Or, simpler, a tour in the BMW of my wife...

20. Do you follow motorcycle racing and if so, which championships?

62% : MotoGP, WSBK, Endurance, TT

15% : No

10% : Cross, Trial, Enduro, Dakar

5% : All

4% : Not regularly

4% : Others (Cafe racer, Moto Legend, Women's Cup, Stunt, etc.)

Special mention to “ I am a track marshal "And" All »!

21. Do you think that a day will come when women will be able to compete with men in MotoGP?

71,1%: Yes

24,6%: Perhaps

4,3%: No

22. Do you think there will come a day when women will be able to compete with men in sports in general?

66%: Yes

21,8%: Perhaps

12,2%: No

23. Who is your favorite driver?

32% : Valentino Rossi

23% : Fabio Quartararo

17% : Marc Marquez

14% : Others

12% : No

2% : Former pilots (Sheene, Doohan, Agostini, etc.)

Special mention to the answers: “ Bader », our illustrious colleague of Motorcycle and Bikers, who are " I don't have one, I only judge motorcycles! "And" Ana Carrasco ". Finally a little female solidarity, damn it!

Le MotoGP is widely acclaimed!!! When I tell you they taste good! A skinny 15% not interested in competition at all. Here too, I admit to being very pleasantly surprised! However, I should have suspected it given how my wife is at full strength in front of each GP. Worse than a supporter of Marseille when his team finally manages to score a goal Champions League...

The two questions relating to male-female “competition” were only intended to determine the girls' opinions on the subject. This was in no way proselytizing about male physical supremacy. Given the aggressiveness of some people's responses, it would seem that it was not considered as such... In short... For my part, I was always in favor of Maria Herrera when she ran Motorcycle 3 and I dreamed of seeing her on the podium in every race, precisely to demonstrate that. Let us cite for example, referring only to mechanical sports (especially because I don't like the rest and therefore I don't want to look for them), the German Jutta kleinschmidt who won the Paris-Dakar in 2001. Sorry! I prefer not to elaborate too much on the subject, it's a little too tense...

The Doctor is therefore the darling of these ladies! Not very original, I was hoping for better from you… But our fabio quartararo national is just behind and that’s nice! Johann zarco was also cited a few times, phew! I bet after the podiums that he will make us at home Pramac, he will move up in this poll. Some do not have to be very young to mention Sheene et Aug, and I hope they didn't damage their eyes too much on the screen... Yes, I'm looking for trouble, I know. 12% don't care royally. Really ? My goodness, may the best win remains the best approach, they are absolutely right.

24. Do you try to pass on your passion to your friends?

42,5%: Yes

36,2%: Sometimes

21,3%: No

25. Take yourself for a ride on your passenger seat instead:

72,8% : Person

19,7% : Friends

7,4% : Friends

26. Roll up instead:

38,8%: Whatever

36,8%: Mixed

10,7%: With the guys

10,7%: Alone

3%: Between girls

Motorcycling is in our blood or we have a visceral fear of it, and I will put my hand in the fire that it is the same for women and men. Everyone knows very well who to talk to to try to pass the virus on, and to whom it is not even worth offering to ride on it when you stop… Shout out to my buddy Lolo…

Concerning the duo, I think that again we are very happy. With the exception of ass-and-shirt couples, like my girlfriend and me, the biker, like the biker, prefers to ride alone. A bag of sand for flirting or free rides, once in a while, at the limit. But, if they have to choose, they still prefer to lug their sisters around. Between the guys who refuse to ride behind a girl, and those who accept but for the wrong reasons, this perhaps explains it...

The last question in this survey proves that women are not sectarian. They're going on a trip with everyone! The slanderers will argue that the biker being a rarer commodity than the biker, it's that or ride alone. I would answer that in the age of social networks, it is not complicated to find a 100% female motorcycle sect for those who want it. QED

In remarks, was mainly added :

The ambient machismo which, ultimately, emerges more here than in the figures…

The lack of choice in terms of equipment (too much pink), and motorcycle models (small size).

The difficulty in finding an internship/job for female mechanics.

Special mention to those who take their offspring behind them. I should have offered this option in the answers, it's obvious. But since I'm a guy, and even a dad, I skipped it. mea culpa, and thank you for passing on the most beautiful passion to future generations!

Another mention, much less pleasant given the work this article required of me, to the dozen or so who criticized me for the sexism of my questions (that was a bit of the subject...), the lack of choice of answers, too much of this and not enough of that, and so on. No comment…

In conclusion, I remind you that all these data are only a sample of reality at a given moment, that the resulting analysis is only my opinion, with sometimes dubious humor what's more, and that all this are in no way gospel words!

Although I have only known very few female motorcyclists, I have on the other hand ridden with a large number of motorcyclists on the road and on the track and, according to this survey, I hardly see any difference in the approach to motorcycling . The only downside is machismo which, I think, should not have a place in our beautiful community. It is not because we ride a motorcycle that we are more intelligent than the average, of course, but fraternity, solidarity, the marginal aspect, should allow us to overcome our differences and eradicate sexualization inherent to the rest of society. Including if the lady is very pretty? Yes but no. Because the aficionados of a sweet romantic utopia may proclaim their indignation in all latitudes, man will remain an animal like any other. And, if there are a few candid “Disney princesses”, Prince Charming will never be anything other than a decoy aimed at preventing the extinction of the human species, biker or not…

A huge thank you for taking part in this questionnaire, and a big V to all !
