Today was filled with presentations in MotoGP, and in Superbike the event organized by the Kawasaki Racing Team at its headquarters in Barcelona could not be left out.

A new World Superbike season is about to start this month, and it will be very interesting due to the championship grid this year. Two of the best riders on KRT motorcycles will participate: Jonathan Rhea, five-time WorldSBK world champion, and his new teammate alex lowes, dressed in green after racing with Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha in the premier class.

During pre-season testing, Jonathan Rhea continued to lead the way on his Kawasaki ZX-10RR, although rain prevented him from riding much at Aragón and Jerez. alex lowes has not yet gotten to know the bike perfectly, but, from the outside, the first impressions are quite positive for the Briton who is making his debut with the #22 KRT bike.

A new challenge for the champion
If the 2019 title was important, the 2020 season will begin at Phillip Island with all the anticipation to see what the drivers, like Rea himself, or Alvaro Bautista who broke his teeth last season. But it will also be important to see how Scott Redding (British Superbike champion) or other very promising riders like Toprak Razgatlioglu ou Loris Baz will behave in the first race.

alex lowes was, with Marcel Duinker, the first guest to take the stage, where he transmitted his sensations of being part of the Kawasaki racing team. “ It's been fantastic. Having worked in the WorldSBK paddock for 5 years, if you want to join a team, this is it. The last three months have been great, even better than I expected working with Marcel [Duinker] and the whole team, my new mechanics and members. It was great and the transition was smooth”, said the former Yamaha rider.

On the other hand, Jonathan Rhea maintained its goal each year: to fight for the championship at all costs. “ Last year was the hardest. But every year is difficult because you come in and you face different challenges. Last year, once I managed to change my mindset to accept these challenges from my main rivals, I was able to stay focused on the goal. We continued to work with the team and eventually we got there.”, said the Northern Irishman about 2019. For now, it is true that he said that “ that would be great " to claim his 100th victory this season, while reaffirming his goal of a sixth WorldSBK world championship title.
