With a different winner in each of the Moto2 races held since the start of the season, the intermediate class once again kept its promises today at Le Mans. Johann Zarco flies the tricolor in the combined classification of the first day.
This morning however, Simone Courses placed his SpeedUp in front of a horde of Kalex. The Italian driver took the advantage on a still fresh track to win in front Kidneys. Jonah Folger, just promoted to MotoGP for the 2017 season at Tech3, completed the provisional first row. Tom Luthi et Lorenzo Baldassarri then occupied 4th and 5th places in front of the reigning Champion Johann zarco.
This afternoon in FP2, under much higher temperatures, but a hazy sky, Johann zarco regains control of the ranking by setting his best time (1'37.370) less than ten minutes from the checkered flag. Despite several attempts, Luthi had to settle for second time in the second free practice session ahead of Folger. Baldassarri and Kidneys complete the Top 5 of the combined ranking ahead Nakagami et Morbidely.
Lowes, winner in Jerez, made a mistake less than five minutes from the end of the session and is in 13th position.
