They voted, in secret, to elect the one among them who was the best, before establishing a ranking for the others!

We are of course talking about the MotoGP riders, who took part in the little game initiated by the Grand Prix commentator on BT Sport, Julian Ryder, who publishes each year the book “Official MotoGP Season Review” which summarizes each race in eight pages, a little the British equivalent of Motorcycle guestbook. And which therefore contains this vote!

For this one, each driver must indicate six names, in order, and are not allowed to vote for themselves. Accountants then award six points for a first place finish down to a single point for a sixth place finish, then add up the totals.

It is not surprising that Marc Marquez came to the top of the 2016 rankings, because everyone placed it first or second. Only three other drivers have achieved a first place: Valentino Rossi, Maverick Vinales and Cal Crutchlow.
The top three are well ahead of the rest, which is not surprising since a dozen voters placed them in the top three, regardless of order. Furthermore, everyone positioned Marquez and Rossi in the Top Six, and only one voter failed to mention Viñales. It is interesting to note that the poll put Maverick Viñales a higher position than he obtained in the championship ranking.

Fourth place was hotly contested between Jorge Lorenzo et Cal Crutchlow.

But if you're looking for someone the pilots visibly hold in high esteem, Jack Miller is your man! 18th in the championship, his track companions awarded him 7th position, thus moving him up 11 places in the standings, and well separated from the trio of eighths…
