MotoGP is a category with a high renewal rate. Those who are currently shining are young, fresh, in shape, but those coming from Moto2 are even more so. Truth be told, we think it's been a long time since there has been such promising talent in the mid-tier category. It's impressive ; they are mature, devilishly fast and have qualities usually reserved for tenors. Some even have a very assertive personality and style! In order to give you a quick overview of the future stars of tomorrow, we borrowed the rating system from American university sports. Explanations.
In this fun article, each driver will be rated from one to five stars, representing the hope placed in their talent. These notations, called ratings, are a mixture of many elements; the age of prospect (future stars), his current team, his form and his potential. This is not a ranking of the best Moto2 riders but those in whom we have the most hope.
Because yes, this article’s primary purpose is to inform you –
especially if you don't follow the lower categories diligently – and only reflects the thoughts of its author. As usual, you are invited to give your opinion in comments and we will be delighted to discuss the subject.
Are you ready ? Let's go !
Pedro Acosta – 19 years old – Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 – ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩
We are not going to dwell on the Spanish prodigy, 3 Moto2021 world champion as a rookie, because we dedicated an entire analysis to him just a few days ago.
You can find it by clicking on this highlighted sentence.
Of course, this goes without saying; Pedro Acosta is a “five star” because he meets all the criteria for a future star.

Tony Arbolino – 22 years old – Elf MarcVDS Racing Team – ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩
For sure, the Italian is already in the sights of a good number of teams MotoGP. We ultimately talk little about him, but he is very impressive, undoubtedly as much – or even more – than Pedro Acosta. He plays in a great team, but not only that; he is very well surrounded, notably by the legendary Jorge Lorenzo.
On the bike, he shows exemplary consistency, rarely falling, even if he still needs to improve in qualifying.
Fortunately, at Le Mans, he showed good progress on Saturday (3rd) before winning masterfully on Sunday.. Tony Arbolino is already a clear candidate for the 2023 title; he leads the championship with a 25-point lead at the time of writing.
Beyond his skills on the handlebars, he is a real character with an assertive character. In a post-race interview, he is comfortable, sure of himself, and exudes impressive maturity. A very interesting profile that is ultimately easy to identify.
Alonso López – 21 years old – Lightech Speed Up – ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩
Big revelation of the 2022 season, Alonso López is definitely one of the men to watch. Blessed with lightning speed, he made a place for himself by arriving during the year and winning twice. Its start to the 2023 financial year is very solid, and it too has a lot of character, a
grinta which is a pleasure to see.
Only small downside; we think we will have to wait a little longer before seeing him access MotoGP, to maybe, why not, sign for a better Moto2 team. Finally, the sensation Alonso López is relatively recent and he still lacks consistency in performance.
Celestino Vietti – 21 years old – Fantic Racing – ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩
This choice may be surprising because since mid-2022, Vietti is no longer one of the “men of the moment”. Yes, his second part of the season was a total failure; the Italian collapsed. With the disappearance of the VR46 structure in Moto2, he now finds himself at Fantic Racing, a team that does not look like much.
But the important thing, in motorcycle sports as in life, is not adversity. This is how we respond to it. And since the start of 2023, with as unfavorable momentum as possible, Celestino has returned to a good level. This demonstrates remarkable strength of character.
Furthermore, a man who won three times last year cannot be brushed aside. On pole in the USA and 4th at Le Mans, he is gradually regaining his standards. On the bike, he is a fine rider who must resolve consistency problems but we are convinced that, supported by the VR46 Academy, a school that has proven itself, Vietti can really get back on his feet.

Arón Canet – 23 years old – Pons Wegow Los40 – ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩
Last prospect that we study in detail, Arón Canet has his place in this article. Discovering that he is only 23 years old is almost surprising as he has been competing in the world championship for a long time. Since 2016, Arón has been fast. He has never had a single season without podiums, victories or pole positions in his career, that shows the constancy of the man.
Very consistent in his performance, he has never yet won in Moto2 but has already reached the second step of the podium at
10 times ! On the other hand, it falls far too often to be given five stars.
His only four poles in Moto2 ended in retirements. Regardless of the displacement or the chassis, Arón Canet is in the game and this is a very good indicator for the future, especially since his more than assertive style would bring a lot of freshness to the premier category; MotoGP also needs colorful profiles like this.
A move to 2024 seems impossible, at least as it stands, but why not consider a coronation if he continues with Pons.
In order not to be too long, we will note some other talents more succinctly.
Sergio García – 20 years old – Pons Wegow Los40 – ✩ ✩ ✩
The rookie is off to a good start to the season, just after a flamboyant stint in Moto3.
Filip Salač – 21 years old – QJMotor Racing Gresini – ✩ ✩ ✩
We still have to wait before deciding, promising but in the top of the basket since very recently.
Fermín Aldeguer – 18 years old – Lightech Speed Up – ✩ ✩ ✩
Very young, the Spaniard was fast last year but the blow falls at the start of 2023, where he struggles to get into the rhythm.
