As usual, only a few hundredths of a second separated Remy Gardner (Kalex, Onexox TKKR SAG Team), Jorge Martin (Kalex, Red Bull KTM Ajo) and Marcel Schrötter (Kalex, Liqui Moly Intact GP) in qualifying, the three riders who will start from the front row of the Austrian Moto2 Grand Prix at 12:20 p.m. for 25 laps.

Remy gardner : “I saw Navarro coming, I got behind him and fortunately he didn't cut the gas throughout the lap. I had good slipstream in turns 1, 1-2 and 3-4, which ultimately helped me a lot, and from turn 7 to turn 9 I found a little speed with the wind, which which I think helped the clock. It was a good ride and it feels good to be back! »

If we add that the first three free practice sessions were all dominated by Sam Lowes (Kalex, EG 0,0 Marc VDS), who will start from 6th position, just behind the championship leader Enea Bastianini (Kalex, Italtrans Racing Team) and Aron Canet (Speed Up, Aspar team), one can hardly find a more open situation, especially since Luca marini (Kalex, SKY Racing Team VR46), second in the championship, will start from the third row while Tetsuta nagashima (Kalex, Red Bull KTM Ajo), third in the general classification, could not really defend his chances in qualifying, victim of a big fall as soon as he left in Q2.

Even if the forecast announces a possibility of rain around 13:00 p.m., the weather is currently summery on the Red Bull Ring, with generally sunny conditions generating temperatures of 25° in the air and 45° on the track.

Everyone chose the soft rear tire while the choices were shared for the front.

While waiting for the start of hostilities, here are the references summarizing the past:

When the red lights go out, George Martin takes the best of Remy gardner while Luca marini (Kalex, SKY Racing Team VR46), a little behind during testing, got off to an excellent start.

George Martin immediately manages to create an advantage of half a second over Schrötter, Marini, Bastianini, Gardner and the rest .

In the third round, Enea Bastianini, the championship leader, loses control of his machine which remains in the middle of the track, at the exit of turn 1, and is then pulverized by Hafiz Syahrin (Speed Up, Aspar team).

The shock was terrible and the race was stopped at the red flag because the Malaysian remained on the ground.

Edgar Pons (Kalex, Federal Oil Gresini Moto2) and Andi Farid Izdihar (Kalex, Idemitsu Honda Team Asia) also fell to avoid the motorcycle on the ground but appear unhurt.

Hafiz Syahrin is conscious.

The race will be restarted for 13 laps, with the positions acquired on the 3rd lap.

All drivers are fortunately announced OK but Hafiz Syahrin is obviously taken to the circuit medical center for a check-up.

The pitlane will be open at 12:55 p.m., for just one minute, for an accelerated start procedure. Only 26 riders will take the start, some motorcycles having been destroyed in the accident.

On the second start, Martin makes the holeshot in front Marini and Schrötter.

Once again, the KTM rider (riding a Kalex) manages to create an advantage (following an error from Bezzecchi) but this time takes with him Luca Marini while Jorge Navarro made a mistake at the back of the pack at turn 10.

After 3 rounds, Martin et Marini are one second ahead of Gardner et Schrötter, themselves slightly detached from the peloton, while Tetsuta Nagashima by fault at turn 1.

On the next lap, it's the poleman Remy gardner who falls in the same place while trying to get back on Luca Marini.

From then on, the race seems to stabilize with Jorge Martin who manages to take off in front Luca Marini, himself having more than three seconds ahead of a Marcel Schrötter isolated in front of the platoon led by Xavi Verge (Kalex, Petronas Sprinta Racing) and Sam Lowes.

In the lead, nothing seems to be able to stop Jorge Martin, et Luca marini seems to be able to maintain its 2nd place. Marcel Schrötter seems less safe because the peloton is 1,5 seconds behind him, and the fight is raging…

As you cross the finish line, George Martin achieves his first victory in the Moto2 category, on his employer's land, while his name was mentioned for the MotoGP category: well done!

Luca marini regains the lead in the championship.
