Loris Baz seriously injured his right foot following a fall at the first corner of the first lap of the Italian Grand Prix. The Frenchman suffered from several fractures. Operated in Switzerland, Baz continues his recovery and his braces will be removed this Thursday.

Absent in Barcelona, he will also have to skip the Dutch TT this weekend. The Haut-Savoyard is actively preparing his return to the Sachsenring, the next meeting on the calendar.

« There has been a nice improvement, but still having my braces, I still can't walk. I was aiming to ride in Assen, but the surgeon told me that would be impossible. I think if I didn't have the pins anymore, I would have tried to ride. I will only remove the pins this Thursday and that would have left me very little time to regain my weight bearing.

Nevertheless, I have progressed a lot. The toes move more and more and the same goes for the ankle. The foot is still swollen and putting on a boot would be complicated. I do a lot of physiotherapy sessions and as soon as I no longer have the braces, I will be able to do sessions in the swimming pool to walk properly.

It's a shame, because I really like the Assen track, it's one of my favorite circuits and a place that has always worked well for me. There will be three weeks before the next Grand Prix in Germany. I will do everything to be 100%, or as close as possible. The Sachsenring shouldn't be too demanding on the right foot since there are almost only left-hand corners. This should help me.

It's never nice to see the Championship progress without you, but those are the risks. As usual, I am well surrounded so things are going better and above all it could have been much more serious. With the disappearance of Luis, I put a lot into perspective, my injury is nothing compared to that."
