This first race of the 2016 MotoGP season ended prematurely for Loris Baz and the Avintia Racing team at Losail.

Author of a good start, the French driver climbed up to 12th position in a fight against Aleix Espargaro. Suffering from grip problems, Loris tried to adapt his driving style to maintain the pace. Braking a little too optimistically, he made a mistake and forced him to retire.

Despite this complicated weekend, Loris is already focusing on the next Argentine Grand Prix during which he hopes to be able to get off to a good start and build on his good results from the winter tests.

« However, the race was off to a good start. I got off to a good start and managed to improve little by little. I was riding with Aleix Espargaro. Then I started to lose grip, particularly when accelerating, a phenomenon which bothered us all weekend. I tried to change my style, to find solutions. The bike being well in the braking phases, I tried to brake harder to change the trajectories. From one lap to the next, I was a little too optimistic entering a corner and I lost the front. I'm a little upset because the fall was quick, but I'm fine, that's the main thing.

It's a shame, because when I arrived here, it was not pretentious to say that a top 10 was possible. We have to start again on new bases in Argentina, and I think that's not a bad thing. Driving in Qatar before the race took us in the wrong directions.

In Argentina, we will try to find solutions and evolve gradually session after session. It's a circuit that I like and I know I can achieve good results there. It's not this weekend that will make me forget all the positives of this winter. The potential is there, we will have to understand why there were so many errors this weekend, without prior warning. I hope that in Argentina, I will manage to find the 'feeling' that I had during the tests."
