It was assumed but it is now almost official: Dorna has restructured its organizational chart, the MotoGP Race Direction and the Safety Commission.

The restructuring process, initiated after the ouster of Xavier Alonso, number 4 of Dorna, is now finished and the names of the replacements are known.

Although the causes have never been disclosed, Javier Alonso, who had the official title of Director of Events, was asked to leave for failing to properly handle the Marquez/Rossi affair at the end of 2015. Beyond the additional audience that this regrettable episode of MotoGP generated, it both gave a less good image of this sport to shareholders, and brought Valentino Rossi to demand changes at the head of the governing bodies. But we know the weight this one has in MotoGP…

La nouvelle Race Direction will therefore be made up of the pilots' representative Loris Capirossi (Dorna, previously security advisor), Franco Uncini (FIM), Mike webb (Race Director, IRTA) and Carlos Ezpeleta, son of Carmelo Ezpeleta, the boss of Dorna.

La Safety Commission will include Carmelo Ezpeleta (Dorna), Carlos Ezpeleta (Dorna), Loris Capirossi (Dorna) and Franco Uncini (FIM).

Dani Pedrosa's former coach, Alberto puig, currently director of the Honda Asia Cup Talent, will assume the role of Sports Advisor for DORNA and will also have an eye on all activities controlled by the Spanish company (WSBK, CEV).
