The second evening of Moto2 on the Losail track was marked by a record time from Sam Lowes who displays his ambitions in this inaugural Qatar Grand Prix of the season. When the Briton doesn't fall, the records fall and that of the desert circuit is now 1'59.262 for the category.
A great performance which crushes last year's pole position which was 1'59.423, acquired by the same Lowes then on a SpeedUp. The Briton, who went twice yesterday to test the bitumen, launched his assault seventeen minutes from the end of the exercise, having left until then Tom Luthi lead the debates. First achieving a 1'59.692, he then improved to definitively protect himself from competition pushed back to 211 thousandths.
This one comes from the best performer of the first free practice session Lüthi which is followed by a Baldassari great days. The Forward driver controls a Schrötter in full renaissance thanks to Kalex while the one who finished the first day in the lead yesterday, namely Jonas Folger, closes the top 5.
The World Champion Johann zarco settles for sixth place, 420 thousandths from the lead, controlling the Asian pair Nakagami et Syarhin wheras'alex rins is a discreet ninth. The top 10 is closed by Alex Marquez in front of the first SpeedUp chassis driven by Simone Corsi.
On the Tech3 side, we note a Xavier Viergth fifteenth whileIsaac Vinales is twenty-eighth. The reigning Moto3 World Champion Danny Kent is an honorable thirteenth with his new Leopard stable which places its other resident Olivier in seventeenth place. The disappointments come fromagitated eighteenth, of Salom twenty-third whileEfren Vazquez is far from his bases seen in Moto3 since he is more than five seconds behind the best time.
