Moto2 Qatar Test J2: Spanish trio with Xavi Virginie in the lead.

Second day in Qatar with a Spanish trio at the top of the Moto2 rankings. Xavi Virginie (Kalex, Petronas Sprinta Racing, #97) in the lead ahead of Arón Canet (Boscoscuro, Aspar team, #44) and Jorge Navarro (Boscoscuro, Speed Up Racing, #9), while Marco Bezzecchi (Kalex, SKY Racing Team VR46, #72) is 6th and best Italian.

After one first day of official testing in good conditions, this Saturday at the Losail International Circuit was much windier. This is how the Moto2 tests took place, with Xavi Verge achieving a 1'58.832 to be the best driver of the day, just like in the two rounds organized so far. An all-Spanish hat-trick, followed by Aron Canet et Jorge Navarro (both on Boscoscuro motorcycles, formerly Speed Up). Marco Bezzecchi is 6th and best Italian, while Raul Fernandez (Kalex, Red Bull KTM Ajo, #25) turns out to be the best beginner. Let's remember some moments: The 2020 tests ended with a 1'58.520 set by Jorge Navarro. The best lap in the race is set in 1'58.711 (Thomas Luthi, 2019), the general record is 1'58.136 (Joe Roberts, 2020), while the best time of the 2020 GP is 1'59.218 per Tetsuta Nagashima.

First session
If you can really call it that, given the “ranking”. Almost all the drivers remained in the pits, alone Stefano manzi of Pons Racing did around ten laps. As happened on the first day, the boys in the intermediate category preferred to skip it. The reason is the mileage limit to preserve the engine until the second GP (we talked about it here).

Second session
Much more activity on the track for the second session on Saturday, with Nicolò Bulega, Joe Roberts and Lorenzo Dalla Porta the only ones left in the stands. At the top of the timesheet, we find Remy gardner (Kalex, Red Bull KTM Ajo, #87), who managed to get ahead Marco Bezzecchi of only 72 thousandths. Not bad for Jake dixon (Kalex, Petronas Sprinta Racing, #96), author of the third time. Raul Fernandez, who is ranked immediately behind the British (only 4 thousandths behind), is the best FP2 rookie of the day.

Third session
Like Friday, it was this session that decided the day's ranking. The times are faster, and several runners quickly go under the two-minute mark, thus getting closer to what they were doing yesterday. Raul Fernandez, who remained at the top of the timesheet for a long time, showed himself, but in the last half hour the times were below 1″59, very close to the race record mentioned at the beginning. Finally, the fastest is Xavi Verge, which places its Kalex in the lead, with a small margin over the Boscoscuro ofAron Canet et Jorge Navarro.
Marco Bezzecchi is 6th and best Italian, as well as the only one in the top 10.
