It was a Sepang track heated to almost 50° which would decide the Moto2 starting grid for a Malaysian Grand Prix marking the penultimate of the season. A season where the World Champion of the category was to be determined between Morbidelli and Lüthi. As referee at the end of the game, we found Oliveira's KTM. What would this session of certain importance give?

Before answering, here is the traditional overview:

The exercise began with the fall of Pasini at turn 9. Pawi did the same at turn 2. On the track it's Morbidely which set the tone in 2'06.406. We had never turned so quickly since the start of this Malaysian meeting and the record of Lüthi dating from 2015 and of the order of 2'06.383 was clearly threatened.

Olive tree, Alex Marquez, Lüthi et Schrotter completed the first top 5. Binder followed with the other KTM and Quarterly was eighth after a quarter of an hour of play.

Returned to battle, Pasini crashed again at turn 7, destroying his only available bike. A troublemaker had just eliminated himself from the debates.

Entering the last five minutes, Morbidely went to the ground at turn 7 but managed to bring his bike back to the box.

More Tom Luthi did the same at turn 2! The Swiss received himself violently on the head, leaving doubt about his ability to resume the fight without going through the mobile clinic.

Baldassarri made a mistake at turn 13 in view of a checkered flag which nevertheless saluted the pole position of Morbidely, his first since the Sachsenring. Olive tree follows but also fabio quartararo which fits brilliantly on the first line. Marquez, Lüthi et bagnaia are in the second row Schrotter Nakagami Binder et Pasini close the top 10.
