Since the start of free practice, the best time achieved was 2'13.129 by Joan Mir in FP1, because during FP2 the track was wet, and in FP3 it was drying. For this qualifying session, the track was perfectly dry, with a temperature of 48° for the asphalt and 34° for the air. A minute of silence was observed in memory of Claudio Macciotta, who died this week, by his team Sky Racing Team VR46.

The big maneuvers began from the first minutes, with Joan Mir launching from the pits with Aron Canet, Romano Fenati and Jules Danilo glued to his rear wheel, then Livio Loi, Mir's teammate, came to place himself between his leader and the group of his followers. We recall that Jules Danilo was penalized three places on the starting grid for having caused Aron Canet to fall (involuntarily) at Phillip Island, for “irresponsible driver”.

The first fast time was to the credit of Jorge Martin in 2'12.457. It was, 32 minutes from the end of this qualifying session, the best time since the start of the weekend. He was 0.9 ahead of Fabio di Giannantonio and 1.0 ahead of Joan Mir. Gabriel Rodrigo fell, as did Marco Ramirez, without seriousness.

As Aron Canet's teammate next year, Estrella Galicia has not yet decided between her two CEV drivers Jeremy Alcoba (second in the Championship with 106 points) and Alonso Lopez (fourth with 102 points with one race remaining, in Valencia on November 19).
At mid-session, Jorge Martin still dominated with his time of 2'12.457, 0.9 ahead of Joan Mir and Fabio di Giannantonio, 1.2 ahead of Johan McPhee and 1.3 ahead of Livio Loi. Jules Danilo was then eighteenth at 2.1.
While Martin maintained his advantage, Mir closed to 0.810 behind his compatriot 10 minutes from the checkered flag. He preceded di Giannantonio, Bastianini, McPhee and Loi. Marco Ramirez, who had fallen, restarted 4 minutes from the end after the team repaired his bike.
During the final sprint, Joan Mir narrowly managed to win in 2'12.078 ahead of Jorge Martin, John McPhee, Bo Bendsneyder, Gabriel Rodrigo and Jules Danilo.
