The rain fell before FP2 of the Moto3, and it is on a still wet track that the MotoGP riders will have to start, with a hierarchy currently established as follows for the first 10: Dovizioso, Bautista, Zarco, Vinales, Márquez, Crutchlow, Abraham, Barbera, Pedrosa and Lorenzo.

On this circuit comprising two long straights, the Ducatis are favorites and Marc Marquez will be titled if he does not concede more than 7 points to Andrea Dovizioso.

The air is at 26°, the track at 28°, and here are the references available before this second MotoGP session in Malaysia:

The wet track obviously requires the use of rain tires, and the vast majority of drivers choose a medium/medium combination.

From the first rounds, Marc Márquez et Andrea Dovizioso battle through stopwatches to ensure leadership, while Hector Barbera lightly hits Maverick  Vinales before falling without gravity at turn #15, which has the gift of annoying the latter…

Considering the times relatively close to those in the dry, grip in the wet still seems important on this circuit and, after a quarter of an hour, Marc Márquez in 2'12.171 is one second ahead of Andrea Dovizioso, before he reacted by clocking 2'11.640: everyone was relegated to more than two seconds, except Márquez!

Halfway through the session, we find Dovizioso, Marquez, Lorenzo, Petrucci, Rins, Lowes, Rossi, Iannone, Bautista et Miller in a top 10 which is far from calling into question that of this morning.

The second part of the session sees Maverick Vinales et Jack Miller improve and position themselves 4th and 5th but we have to wait for the last 10 minutes to see the times tighten slightly under the leadership of the Yamaha rider who gets closer to 1,3 seconds behind.Andrea Dovizioso.

Two minutes from the checkered flag, it is nevertheless Jorge Lorenzo who positioned himself third, 1,1 seconds behind his teammate, when Johann zarco minor fall at turn number 8.

Finally, Andrea Dovizioso seems untouchable in the wet, and alone Marc Marquez can fit between the Italian driver and the rest of a field relegated to at least a second.
