Friday was exceptional for Alvaro Bautista who set the second fastest time behind Andrea Dovizioso. Not only was the position good, but the time was also good because in 2'00.742 the Spaniard was only 0.071 behind the best time achieved by the Italian in 2'00.671.

Like Dovizioso, Bautista had a Ducati, but this did not mean that the Sepang circuit was favorable to the Desmosedici. Indeed, the Yamahas occupied third and fourth positions with Johann zarco et Maverick Vinales, while Marc Marquez and Cal Crutchlow placed their Hondas in fifth and sixth places.

The afternoon was less spectacular for Bautista in the wet, but he nonetheless achieved the seventh fastest time, 1.6 behind Andrea Dovizioso, just ahead of the two Suzukis of Alex Rins and Andrea Iannone.

Alvaro was fourth Ducati rider in the wet, but first of the independents behind the three official GP17s of Andrea Dovizioso, Jorge Lorenzo and Danilo Petrucci.

According to Alvaro Bautista, who are " My feelings are positive again, both in the dry and in the wet, unlike Australia where I didn't feel comfortable. »

“The temperature in Sepang helps us a little more, so I feel happy at the end of this first day. »

“We made a comparison between the configuration of the February test and that of recent races and it is difficult to say which is better.  »

“For now, at least, I'm happier with the one I used in this event because we were fast and consistent. If we can move on to Q2 tomorrow it would be a good result. »
