When the first drops of rain fell on the track, Sepang was preparing for its Malaysian Grand Prix, the mine of Dani Pedrosa was discomfited. As the water took over the Malaysian track, the advantages of the pole position taken in the dry by the Spaniard dissolved. An HRC driver still traumatized by his last performance in these conditions in Japan. An ordeal spent at the bottom of the rankings. And yet, it was fifth that Pedrosa crossed the finish line this Sunday.
Suddenly, after having escaped the worst, it is a Pedrosa relieved who recounted his adventure which still ended 29.144 seconds behind the winner Dovizioso and 11 seconds behind his teammate Márquez fourth: " I am satisfied. After Friday's free practice in the wet, I expected the worst, to find the last places. It’s like this in the rain since Misano.”
« So fifth is a good result. For the race, we had prepared a brand new bike that I had never tried before. I chose the soft rear tire. With him, I had more grip in the corners, but I also skated a lot in a straight line because he had difficulty getting the temperature. It was a compromise. The others also had difficulty and the lap times were faster than on Friday ».
A deliverance: “I didn't take many points during these last three meetings. This period overseas is always difficult for me. I now hope to finish on a good note in Valencia ". A route where the world title will be played out between Márquez et Dovizioso. During the last five editions on the Ricardo Tormo circuit, Pedrosa is shown on three occasions on the podium, with one victory.
