Spanish journalist Manuel Pecino is one of the most esteemed in the profession, and he regularly shares his point of view with those interested on his website. He recently delivered a very interesting analysis of Suzuki's situation in MotoGP, of which here are some extracts. We advise you to read the full version, in Spanish or English.

Manuel begins by recalling that last year Suzuki in Aragon was in the middle of the first row of the starting grid with Maverick Vinales, between the Honda of Marc Marquez and the Yamaha of Jorge Lorenzo. On Sunday, Maverick finished fourth behind Marquez, Lorenzo and Rossi, 2 seconds behind the Italian. His teammate Aleix Espargaro was seventh, 18 seconds behind the winner.

The last weekend, Andrea Iannone was tenth on the fourth row and alex rins twentieth on the seventh. In the race, Iannone finished twelfth at 20 seconds and Rins seventeenth at 31 seconds. But, as Pecino points out, “ What was embarrassing in Aragon was the fact that an Aprilia and two KTMs finished the race ahead of the best Suzuki. We are talking about two brands with much less experience in a category as difficult as MotoGP, and two projects that started well after Suzuki. In that light, it was an embarrassing situation. »

“But aside from the poor results, the worst part of the Suzuki crisis is the distinct lack of harmony between the parties who must work together to move the project forward. »

“Let us assume that there is a significant error in the technical development. It's a complicated situation, but in racing there is always time to remedy poor results. To get out of this situation, it is essential that all parties have the same goals, including the factory in Japan, the people working on the circuits during the races and the drivers. And that's not what's happening in the team managed by Davide Brivio. »

“We are talking about Iannone's current attitude. It cannot be denied that Andrea started the season with motivation and positivity, but the succession of falls and/or lack of results completely eliminated any positive attitude. He doesn't do anything to hide it either, but there are times when he seems to want to add fuel to the fire. All of this has led to a situation where this driver has no trust in those who are supposed to solve his problems, and the team no longer sees the driver as one of its own. »

“In this case, the really complicated factor is the human, read: the pilots. »
