Marc Márquez continues to shake up MotoGP standards, particularly in the Sprint format, which, prior to this season, had been Jorge Martin's preferred arena. In 2025, the king of the Sprint is no longer number 1, but number 93, poised to break all the records in the format.
By winning a Sprint race for the thirteenth time this season, the Ducati rider brings his total to fourteen victories this season, coming within two points of the all-time record held by his compatriot. He has already set a new record for the number of Sprint victories in a season, erasing the previous mark of nine set by Martin in 2023.
Since the introduction of the Sprint format, Jorge Martin has quickly established himself as the king of Saturdays, with nine wins in 2023, then seven in 2024. His longest streak? Four consecutive victories, between San Marino and Indonesia in 2023, enough to cement his reputation. However, faced with the impressive momentum of Marc Márquez, this status as a benchmark in Sprint races is wavering.
Márquez, for his part, is breaking records: he has just secured a seventh consecutive Sprint victory, improving his own record of six consecutive successes, established earlier in the season, between Buriram and Le Mans.
Currently, the list of winners is as follows:
| Pile | George Martin | Marc Márquez |
|---|---|---|
| Total Sprint Wins | 16 | 14 |
| Wins 2023 | 9 | 0 |
| Wins 2024 | 7 | 1 |
| Wins 2025 | 0 | 13 |
| Single season record | 9 (2023) | 13 (2025 – Ongoing) |
| Longest consecutive streak | 4 (2023) | 7 (2025) |
The momentum leaves little room for doubt: barring any incidents or surprises, Márquez will become the most successful rider in Sprint by the end of the season. Aprilia's rise to prominence, and the return of Jorge Martín, who was absent during the first half of the season due to injury, could, however, lead to some interesting battles for the twelve points at stake on Saturdays in the future!
