The leader of the MotoGP World Championship recently participated with Dani Pedrosa on the Jarama circuit, near Madrid, in the presentation of the new Honda Civic Type R. It was the opportunity to take stock with him of four races of the END.

“The World Championship is very long,” Marquez explained, « and in a single race, you can lose a lot of points with a small mistake. There are many drivers who can win a race. »

“The important thing is not to change the dynamic and to continue to give 100%. I don't look at the weaknesses of my rivals, but only their strengths. Andrea and Maverick are very strong and are not going to give up. »

Valentino Rossi should try to tip the scales in favor of his teammate Maverick Vinales. But for the reigning champion, he will not be the only judge: “There will be many judges, not just Rossi. Making a prediction is impossible and it’s no secret that to be the fastest you have to have confidence in yourself.”

On the other hand, Andrea Dovizioso can count on a teammate on the rise and a very competitive bike. “ I don’t see any weakness this year at Ducati: they are always fast, on all the different types of circuits and whatever the weather conditions…”

The conversation then turned to another subject: F1. It's not our main concern on this site, but Marc Marquez's point of view, as well as that of his teammate Dani Pedrosa, give an interesting perspective on how the two Spaniards view Honda.

There was of course talk of McLaren abandoning the Honda engine in F1, in favor of Renault. According to Marc Marquez, “ It was said from the beginning that this was a long-term project. McLaren's men knew it. But knowing Honda, you see, it's a very powerful brand, the most powerful in the world, but all things need time. Under pressure, sometimes it is not pleasant to work. »

Pedrosa’s opinion is not diametrically opposed: “ It is difficult to improve performance in three years. It's clear that at the brand level you have goals...but you have to give more time and see how you can get what you want. Knowing the brand, we know that it has great ambition and that despite a difficult start, it will not stop. I'm sure she will improve in F1."
