The site speedweek managed to speak with Maverick Vinales, the fastest man in the Valencia tests.

The one who will be this year alongside Valentino Rossi explained the reasons for his change of team, while clearly displaying his objectives for the 2017 season.

Maverick Vinales: “For me, Yamaha's experience in this category was decisive for the change. He is a great manufacturer, who has already won a lot. Suzuki has always been very good to me. But Yamaha can look back and see a long and successful history. I am happy to join such a team.
This change of direction is for me a chance to fight for the title and win it. »

Asked about his famous teammate and his possible psychological maneuvers which have, in the past, succeeded in destabilizing some of his adversaries, the ex-Suzuki driver is not worried in the least:  » It doesn't bother me because I'm a pilot who only listens when he's working. I concentrate entirely on my work in the pits and with my team. I'm certainly not a pilot who indulges in small games. I'm just trying to do my best and let my Sunday results speak for themselves.
I don't think I'll get upset about the comments during a press conference or something. All drivers are here to win. That's the most important thing. It's all part of the game.
Until now, I have often changed categories or worked with a new teammate. I have always had good relationships. I happily talk about my actions on the track and am friendly with everyone. »

Maverick Vinales is a discreet boy who undoubtedly has character; “we don’t do it the other way around.”
He has already proven it in the past by leaving his team during the weekend, at Sepang in 2012…
