It had been known to insiders for several months but, if not official, it is now public: Mike Di Meglio, 29 years old, will participate in the 2018 Supersport World Championship with a Yamaha YZF-R6 from GMT94, the team of Christophe Guyot 2017 World Endurance Champion.
The 2018 season will therefore be very intense for the 125 2008 cc World Champion who will juxtapose Endurance and Speed, giving preference to the first when the dates coincide (Assen, Imola and Brno).
As a reminder, Mike Di Meglio won all the Endurance races he took part in this season, with the Spaniard David Checa and the Italian Niccolò Canepa.
If the Supersport will be an absolute novelty for the Toulouse resident who will find there Lucas Mahias et Jules cluzel also on Yamaha, the same cannot be said for the GMT94 which already participated during the 2005-2007 seasons with the same David Checa and the Frenchman Sèbastien Gimbert.
For the sake of modesty and discretion, no official press release will be released before the end of January.
