Qualified sixth on the grid, Dovi finished sixth in the race, which allows him to occupy sixth position in the provisional World Championship standings.

Despite his twisted knee during a private test session two weeks before the Grand Prix, Andrea Dovizioso managed to qualify on the second row of the starting grid. He was ahead of his teammate Michele Pirro, substitute forAndrea Iannone injured a vertebra, but was able to take revenge in the race.

Dovizioso made a good start which allowed him to occupy fourth position behind Jorge Lorenzo, Valentino Rossi et Maverick Vinales. Doubled by Marc Marquez, he passed Vinales and thus remained fourth. Then in the seventh round came the hurricane Dani Pedrosa who made short work of Dovi in his sumptuous comeback. He then fought for fifth place with Maverick Vinales, behind whom he finally crossed the finish line in sixth place. Thanks to this result, he now occupies sixth position in the provisional standings of the World Championship with three points ahead (99 to 96) over his teammate Andrea Iannone.

“It's a shame because today I thought I would get a different result in the race, Andrea regretted. Unfortunately, we're still struggling to try and get the bike to run like our rivals, and as the laps go by, that difference increases. To close the gap I have to use a lot of energy, push hard on the handlebars and my riding style becomes less smooth and a little more messy. To have a consistent lap, it's better that I don't attack too much in the first laps, but we have to do it to stay with the leading group. »
