You will be aware that since 2012, the graphics of the official poster of the Japanese Grand Prix have been in the purest Manga style, particularly popular in the land of the rising sun.
At Paddock-GP, we salute the graphic efforts of the Grand Prix promoters which are a little out of the ordinary, like those of the San Marino and Japanese Grand Prix, and we like the naive and childish Japanese graphics.
Also, on the eve of the Japanese Grand Prix we contacted the author of these posters, Ranka Fujiwara, and, despite the barriers of culture and language, we were able to very briefly outline the broad outlines of his journey.
Aged around forty, Ranka Fujiwara began to love MotoGP at 18, then, his penchant for graphics already present, began to draw riders a year later.
His work, collected on a DVD, was spotted in 2012 by the circuit's communications manager Twin Ring Motegi, who then entrusted him with the graphics of the official poster the same year.
Since then, and given the success of this poster, it is “a story that goes on” for the woman who is today an advertising designer in professional life.
His favorite driver? Cal Crutchlow, which she bites from every angle!
All the pilots know her and enjoy her drawings with amusement, even when they are depicted with baby bottles! 🙂
Here is a little overview of his work.
