Motegi MotoGP Q.2: Rossi takes pole position

Valentino Rossi set the best time in MotoGP qualifying at Motegi, posting the only performance below 1'44 in the field.

With his 1'43.954, he joins Jorge Lorenzo and Marc Márquez in the statistics, with whom he also now has 64 career peak positions.

Marc Marquez is second after having made a mistake in following Rossi, and an embarrassment caused by the fall of Cal Crutchlow at the end of the journey. Jorge Lorenzo is happy with his third place even though two hours earlier, he was in a helicopter heading to the hospital for examinations after his very violent fall in FP3.

Andrea Dovizioso will command the second line in front of Cal Crutchlow, fifth despite a fall, and Aleix Espargaró who once again dominates his teammate at Suzuki, Maverick Viñales.

Hector Barbera follows, as well as Pol Espargaro.
Danilo Petrucci et Scott Redding are at the same pace while Alvaro Baptist is twelfth after falling.
