As the pandemic we are experiencing continues its course, with its share of government measures limiting comings and goings such as gatherings of people, the motorcycle industry is adapting by going dormant. Ducati turned off its machines and now Yamaha is following suit by anesthetizing its factories in Italy and France while waiting for better days...

Yamaha announced that production at two of its factories in Italy and France was temporarily suspended in response to the current pandemic Covid-19. Thus the production of the Motori Minarelli engine factory in Calderara di Reno, in Italy, and the MBK Industrie assembly plant in Saint-Quentin, in France, was arrested. Both will be closed until March 22, with the situation reviewed weekly from that date.

Yamaha follows government guidelines in Italy and France to ensure that its employees are not financially disadvantaged as a result of these temporary closures.

Here is the official press release fromEric de Seynes, General Manager of Yamaha MotorEurope : " The health of our employees and our social responsibility are our priorities at this point, which is why we have made the decision to suspend production at these two factories in the face of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. We also greatly appreciate the skills and commitment of a workforce that has shown great loyalty to Yamaha, but now faces an unprecedented situation outside of the workplace. For their peace of mind, we strive to ensure that no employee loses financially until a stable situation returns, both in Italy and in France. »
