For its third season this year, the Triumph Triple Trophy, organized in parallel with the Moto2 World Championship, the bikes of which all use a competition version of the Triumph 3-cylinder 765cc engine, was back with a new points scale rewarding combativeness more than speed; of which Jeremy Alcove benefited.

Each race was awarded:

  • 7 points for the driver(s) who gained the most positions from the start of the race until the checkered flag
  • 6 points for the driver who qualifies in pole position
  • 5 points for the runner(s) who achieved the best time in the race.

After Marco Bezzecchi (first winner in 2020) and Raul Fernandez (winner in 2021), it is Jeremy Alcove who won the uniquely decorated Triumph Street Triple RS in Valencia this year, largely thanks to his comebacks in the race. Although he did not score any points in this trophy until Portugal, the Portimão weekend allowed the Catalan driver to register his first 7 points, following his rise from 26th to 6th position.

The rest of the season kept the same tone, favoring the climbs to the final rankings, which ultimately allowed Jeremy Alcove, only 18th in the world championship on his Kalex from the Liqui Moly Intact GP team, to win with 42 points against 38 for Celestine Vietti and 37 for the two title contenders Augusto Fernandez et Ai Ogura !

There is perhaps a slight adjustment of the cursor to be reviewed for next year, so that, like the MotoGP category with the BMW Award, it is the headliners who fight for the final reward , unless the intention of the Hinckley firm is to highlight the second part of the plateau in a rather ephemeral way...

Jeremy Alcove“I’m very happy because at the start of the season I didn’t expect that. Then I realized I was consistently scoring good points in the Triumph Triple Trophy and then the Street Triple became something I really focused on during the second half of the season. I was with my family and friends this weekend and we were all very excited because the prize is awesome and now that I won it, I'm super happy! »

Steve Sargent, Triumph Product Manager: “Congratulations to Jeremy on a strong rookie season and for winning the Triumph Triple Trophy for the 2022 season. Seeing young talent achieve great results with our 765 Triple is extremely satisfying, especially in such a competitive field. We hope you enjoy your prize, the all-new Street Triple RS, with its unique Triumph Triple Trophy livery and we look forward to seeing you again for another Moto2™ World Championship in 2023.”
