The big maneuvers for the 2018 season are already in full swing behind the scenes of the Grands Prix and Moto2 is not immune to these speculations. Since it is almost certain that the current leader of the championship Morbidelli will leave for MotoGP within the same structure that currently employs him, the work to find his successor has begun. We therefore discuss a lot within Marc VDS Racing and all the more so since we do not agree on the candidate to favor. Thus, Michaël Bartholemy has a weakness for Joan Mir but the investor Estrella Galicia reminds him that Aron Canet is already in the walls…

What is certain, it seems, is that the next generation will indeed come from Moto3. And not from a competitor already in Moto2. Joan Mir is 19 years old and he is the current leader of the general classification in the Grand Prix entry category. With three victories won in six races contested, he is ahead of the other contender Canet who won his Spanish Grand Prix.

On the situation, Michael Bartholemy explains on speedweek : " I would clearly like to have Mir for 2018. He has the potential, the measurements and the age which is 19 years old. But our sponsor Estrella Galicia also has a Moto3 team in which 17-year-old Aron Canet plays. Canet is therefore already in the place. We will talk about it in Barcelona and we will see how Canet evolves. During the two or three days following the Catalan Grand Prix, we will decide between the two. But I would like to have Mir ».

That is clear. It will be noted that the name of bastianini never advanced even though he joined the Estrella team this year. But the Italian has only been a shadow of himself since the start of this campaign. And it costs it dearly... As for the Marc VDS, it seems to have resumed its cruising speed of the 2014 vintage this season. The Belgian brewer's team recorded its first defeat this weekend in Italy after having until then won all the success. In 2014, the Marc VDS had collected two victories out of eighteen races contested and no less than twenty-four podiums out of forty-eight up for grabs.

Concerning the adventure in MotoGP, the same Bartholomew hope to keep Miller. Which means that with the rise in rank of Morbidelli, and the choices that are emerging for Moto2, Tito Rabat has something to worry about. Hence his great performance at Mugello?
