Due to the weather conditions, this 2nd day of testing for the Triumph-powered Moto2s was reduced to just the session which took place in the dry.

During the almost 3 hours allocated to them, the Moto2 drivers were able to complete up to 48 laps, which made it possible to lower the times compared to yesterday, the best of which was then to be credited to Lorenzo Baldassarri in 1'42.203.

As a reminder, the official circuit record, achieved with a Moto2 with a Honda engine, belongs to the same driver since the last Grand Prix, in 1'41.890.

Today, like all the other drivers, the holder of the Pons HP 40 team improved his time, but it is Luca Marini (Sky Racing Team VR46) who beat this time aboard his Kalex, in 1'41.524.

However, this remains slower than the time achieved last year by Alex Marquez in 1'40.926 aboard his Kalex, during testing on the Andalusian circuit in mid-February (free engines).

Obviously, with around ten more horses and more sophisticated Magneti Marelli electronics, we expect the new generation Moto2 to be faster than their cousins with Japanese propulsion. But these have now benefited from 9 years of development, while in Jerez only completely new motorcycles are running: engine, electronics but also chassis!

We can therefore still expect good progress before the start of the 2019 season, which will displease neither the public nor the drivers...

Note that Iker Lecuona has now replaced George Martin injured within the Red Bull KTM Ajo team.

Tomorrow, 2 sessions will conclude this first test of the 2019 season, from 10:10 a.m. to 13:05 p.m. and from 13:55 p.m. to 16:50 p.m.
