The 2020 Moto2 season is coming in a few weeks and will see the arrival of one of the rookies in the category Marcos Ramírez. The Spaniard took stock of his past season in Moto3 where he finished third in the championship behind Lorenzo Dalla Porta, the reigning world champion and Aron Canet, his dolphin. The driver from Conil de La Frontera also spoke about his wishes regarding the upcoming season. 

In 2019, Marcos Ramirez had an excellent season in Moto3: two victories, in Catalonia and Great Britain. He also finished second on the podium twice, in Germany and Australia. He also achieved two pole positions, in Australia and Malaysia.

Marcos Ramirez : " This year was excellent even if the start was disastrous. Fortunately, we had the potential to fight in each race and we demonstrated it during the second part of the season where I fought for the places in the leading trio of the championship until the last race. I have had some great moments this season but above all what I remember above all else is my first victory in Catalonia which I will never forget, especially on a circuit which has never been favorable to me in the past. For me to win there was incredible. See how my parents cried, how my whole team was happy for me… it was a day I had dreamed of and wanted so much that I finally arrived. This date of June 16 is tattooed on my skin. I will never forget and it is clear that I would not have made it without the help of many people »

What about the big jump in Moto2 in 2020? What are the forces present according to Mark ? " It's difficult to say, there are many strong drivers who are, in my opinion, of an equivalent level. During my first tests in the category, we were all very close. I will discover a little more in Qatar. What I do know, however, is that you have to work hard to be very strong right away at the start of the season. »

The 22-year-old driver concludes with his expectations in light of the 2020 season and talks about how he sees himself continuing his career in 5 years: “ my goal is to be a very good rookie, learn quickly and well to score points in each race. Of course, I also hope to achieve a podium but you have to be patient and know how to keep a cool head so as not to screw up. In a few years, like any pilot, I aim to access MotoGP on the handlebars of an official motorcycle if possible.
