Albert Arenas will make the jump to Moto2 with the Aspar team in 2021. The current Moto3 category leader will finish his sixth season with the team next year and move up to the intermediate category, after fighting for the title Moto3 in a season where he has accumulated three victories and a total of five podiums to date. Next year, he will be Aron Canet's teammate and will drive a Speed Up.

Albert Arenas started his career with the team that participates in the world junior championship Moto3, where he achieved his first podium with the Aspar team at home in Barcelona, finishing third. In 2016, he took part in three Moto3 Grands Prix: in Jerez and Barcelona, as a wild card rider, and in the Netherlands, as a substitute rider. It wasn't until 2017 that he finally made the permanent jump to the World Championship, achieving an eighth place in San Marino as his best result.

The 2018 season was the first where Albert Arenas was able to shine, when he made his debut on the World Championship podium with a victory in France. The same year he repeated a victory, this time in Australia, and finished the year in ninth place overall. 2019 should have been his title fight year, but an injury early in the season thwarted his plans. However, in the final stage of the year he came back and finished with three consecutive podiums (victory in Thailand included) which earned him the title of favorite for 2020.

This season began with a victory in Qatar and it continues, five laps from the deadline, with the Solunion Aspar Team driver at the top of the general classification, which proves his maturity. Now that the future in Moto2 is confirmed, Arenas will have only one goal in mind: the fight for the Moto3 World Championship.

Maturity rewarded

Jorge Martínez “Aspar” : “ we are proud to be able to move to Moto2 with Albert Arenas. He has been with us since the Moto3 Junior World Championship and to see him grow and mature and now be able to fight with him for the Moto3 title is a huge satisfaction. After the season he's having and the maturity he's showing on the track, it's the perfect time to think about higher goals. Albert is one of the most complete riders in the Moto3 world championship and he will take us to the next level in the intermediate category"

Albert Arenas : " I am very happy and excited to be able to make the jump to Moto2. I'm happy to have achieved one of my main goals this year. The desire to go to Moto2 was stronger and stronger and I think the change comes at the right time. I have grown a lot as a driver and as a person and I am showing it. I have trained a lot with the 600 and it is a very fun bike, more comfortable.

I really want to get to Moto2 now, but I will continue to focus on this year to achieve the other goal we have. I am very excited to continue with the Aspar team, which has had many successes throughout its history, and to be able to give them success myself is something very satisfying. I would like to thank everyone who made it possible for me to get here, from my technical team to sponsors and everyone who supported me and continues to support me in my career"
