Although he is still leader of the Moto2 World Championship, Álex Márquez must regain his confidence this weekend after his blank result two weeks ago.

The British Grand Prix clearly did not go as well Alex Marquez expected it. The strong man in the category actually made a mistake, and saw his lead in the championship melt away like snow in the sun. His three pursuers, all tied at 35 points behind him, will do everything to get even closer this weekend in Misano, and the Spaniard will have to keep his cool.

However, everything seemed to flow naturally. Since Le Mans, everything had smiled on Márquez who had had an almost perfect career with three pole positions, five victories and a podium. Even his blank result from Assen did not reflect his final domination, as he was the victim of a collision with Lorenzo Baldassarri while fighting for victory.

However, and against all expectations, he fell at the start of the race in England while he was leading. He nevertheless maintains a decent lead in the championship, and can approach the San Marino Grand Prix with confidence, especially since the tests carried out there just after Silverstone proved positive. “I am very motivated because we did testing two weeks ago to best prepare for the race. It’s very positive because we will be able to attack the competition in good conditions” He explains. “After a zero score, it is important to restore confidence very quickly. The objective for the weekend remains the same: to start on the right foot and finish in the top five to consolidate our position in the general classification. »

Although Misano has not always been successful for the Marc VDS rider (his best result in Moto2 being tenth place), it is nonetheless a track that he likes and which could allow him to maintain his lead over Augusto Fernández, Tom Lüthi and Jorge Navarro. “Misano is a special circuit that I like. Generally it is very hot and the grip on the track is average. I think this will be the case again this year. I can't wait to get back with the team to prepare for this new fight and progress in the championship. »
