Team Gresini confirms its commitment to the MotoGP World Championship in the Moto2 category and will be on the starting line next year with two rookies in the category: Alessandro Zaccone and Filip Salač.

To Alessandro Zaccone, it's a return home, the Italian already being part of the #GresiniFamily in 2020 in the MotoE category. He's 22 years old, but already has an impressive CV: Appearances and results in CIV, CEV, World Supersport and the chance (just this weekend) to become MotoE world champion.

On the other side of the box, there will be Filip Salač. Another youngster (19 years old), who is ready to make the jump to the category after three seasons in Moto3 where he has so far collected 108 points. Highlights include his podium at Le Mans this year (2nd) and his pole position at the Sachsenring.

Both will retain their historic numbers, with the Czech rider confirming the 12 on his fairing and Zaccone moving to the intermediate category with his 61. And that's not all because, starting next season, the Moto2 project will also have a new manager, Luca Gresini, who will take the reins of the Faenza-based team in the intermediate category.

Alessandro Zaccone #61
« First of all, I am delighted to come back to race with Gresini Racing and especially in Moto2. I have been working there for many years and the opportunity I have been waiting for has finally arrived. I am sure we will have the best equipment and racing with an Italian team like Gresini Racing is, I think, the best way to enter this world. I am sure that we will not waste this great opportunity and I want to thank the Gresini family for giving me this chance. »

Filip Salač #12
« I'm really happy to join Gresini Racing, a team that I consider one of the best in the paddock and which has enormous experience in this category. Honestly, I can't wait for 2022 and to be able to make the jump to the top category, because it means a lot to me with MotoGP progressing step by step. I will give my best to prove myself. »

Nadia Padovani Gresini, Team Owner & Team Principal
« I am very happy to announce that we will be on track again next year in the intermediate category with two young and strong drivers like Alessandro Zaccone and Filip Salac. It was important to confirm our presence in Moto2, a historic category for Gresini Racing and which, from next year, will see Luca Gresini at the head of the team. We really wanted this project and I have to thank the entire Gresini Racing team for the excellent work done in recent months, which has allowed us to add MotoGP to Moto2. »
