The Marc VDS driver spoke with Trademarks his end of the season as well as his choice for the future for 2019.

Alex Marquez announced less than two weeks ago his decision to stay one more year in Moto2 within his team EG 0,0 Marc VDS while the announcement of an arrival in MotoGP next year was hoped for. Marc Márquez's younger brother explained his choice: “In the end it was a decision made by several people. I spoke with Emilio and especially with Marc. He told me that I was only 22 and that I could rest easy. Moto2 will be a very open category from an electronic point of view, and being able to take this experience where everything is new with electronics will mean that, if I have the opportunity to move up to MotoGP, I will arrive much better prepared. »

A decision which will allow him to approach the next Grands Prix with a lighter mind: “Knowing that your future is assured brings peace and motivation. It’s a bonus that makes you feel more confident. I continue with the same team, I feel very surrounded. When we talked about options in Moto2, there was no other, it was this one from the beginning. Hopefully we can win this year. Next year it will be a new category with the Triumph engine, I tried it and it will be very interesting. »

Álex does not hide it, after his Moto3 title, he wants to repeat the feat in Moto2 in order to arrive in MotoGP in the best possible way: “I have always said that I want to be Moto2 world champion before moving up to MotoGP. If I could do it, it would be a dream. We are not far away, some of the next circuits suit us very well and I hope to take advantage of them. We are in a good dynamic by being consistent and looking for victory. »

In the meantime, the Spanish driver is taking advantage of the summer break and is calmly approaching the second part of the season: “Holidays are always good, I did a little bit of everything. I also rested, I recharged the batteries. I now want to get back on track. We would have liked to have more time to rest, but we miss the races. I can't wait to get back on track, and that will be done with a double with Brno and Austria. It will be intense from the start. The second part of the Championship can be tough for everyone. There are many races in a row where, without realizing it, you can lose 50 points in a row. Like Brno and Austria or the Overseas Grands Prix. Morally and physically, it is important to be prepared and I am. We hope to reverse the Championship. We're not that far, so we have to continue to the end. »
