After a top Qatar Grand Prix, Sky Racing Team VR46 encountered more problems this weekend, on both sides of the box, and did what they could to come back with the best possible result in these weather conditions complicated.

Francis Bagnaia was almost never at the front this weekend, instead navigating around twentieth position. Qualified fifteenth, he was however able to recover a little to save the points for ninth place, a result which obviously does not satisfy him, who wants to play for the title: “After a difficult weekend, I was at the limit throughout the race. We didn't shoot much in the dry conditions and I wasn't comfortable with the settings. The others worked better than us, and the qualifications were also complicated. »

Lucid about his performance, he knows that it will not be necessary to show irregularity to hope to win the Holy Grail at the end of the year: “This race must not happen again during the season. Despite everything, I didn't lose too many points in the Championship. »

The Italian remains, in fact, third in the general classification, just six points behind leader Mattia Pasini.

For his teammate Luca Marini, the result is a little more mixed. More comfortable than Bagnaia throughout the weekend, he was always in the top 15 and even set the best time in the Warm Up. Unfortunately, his feelings during the race have completely changed.

While he started from twelfth position and could hope for a good result, he finished sixteenth and therefore outside the points: “After the Warm Up I was hoping to do a different race, but we had some problems, maybe with the tire or the settings, and I didn't find the confidence I wanted with the front. We need to analyze the data to understand exactly what happened. »

Number 10 still has reason to be satisfied with his weekend: “Despite this we came back with some positives: we had a good feeling in the wet, I was really fast. » Sensations that could work in its favor during the next rainy weekend.
