Baltus, Moto2

The Dutch Grand Prix is about to begin at Assen, and the RW Racing GP team will be defending its interests there at home, as will its driver, Zonta van den Goorbergh. If Barry Baltus is not from the country which is hosting the MotoGP at the end of June, the event presents itself as a second home race for him after Le Mans. The Belgian will try to achieve a good result after going through a difficult period, both personally and sportingly.

If Barry Baltus' last appearance in Moto2 dates from the official tests which followed the Italian Grand Prix, the No. 7 did not rest during the three weeks of interruption. The Belgian has in fact announced his participation in the Suzuka 8H, which will take place next July, and took part in tests on the circuit on the sidelines of the event, joining Johann Zarco in Japan.

After this break, it will be a matter of refocusing on his Moto2 campaign in Assen. The event will be all the more special as his team, like its garage neighbor, will compete in this race on his land.

The objective for the Belgian will be to regain the points for the first time since the Portuguese GP, after having gone through a trying first part of the season, which did not spare him both from on-track difficulties and personal difficulties outside the circuits.

“It’s been a long time since the race weekend at Mugello, so I’m looking forward to racing again at Assen this weekend, comments Baltus on the sidelines of the event. It's the team's home race, so it's always special, there will be lots of guests. In the meantime, I went to Japan to test the bike before the Suzuka Eight Hours, it was quite an experience. Now the focus is completely on the race weekend in Assen in Moto2 where I will give everything to get a good result. »

To do this, he will be able to benefit from all the support of his team, as expressed by Jarno Janssen, Team Manager of Rw Racing GP. « We are on the eve of our home race at the TT Circuit Assen, the only Grand Prix in the Netherlands. For us it is the highlight of the year. The weather forecast is good, so I think all the ingredients are there for a great event.

Of course, the home race also brings a little more pressure, especially for Zonta, He continues. For Barry it will also be an intense weekend, he has had a very difficult time and is currently trying to get over it. Hopefully he can muster up the strength to be at his best. As a team we will fully support him and be there for him.

We know what he is capable of and will do everything in our power to make him as comfortable as possible on the bike. It will be a weekend full of emotions and we will also have to take that into account” Janssen concludes.
