Red Bull KTM Ajo returns to action after a three-week break, but will be without one of its two riders. While Celestino Vietti arrives at Assen with the ambition to continue to progress after a great performance in Italy, Deniz Oncu for his part is forced to withdraw before the start of hostilities due to injury.
The two pilots Red Bull KTM Garlic are currently going through very different emotions. Celestino Vietti is in better form than ever this season, having equaled his best result at the Italian Grand Prix. The Italian gained confidence and began to fight for better results as he occupied tenth place in the drivers' standings.
On the other side of the garage, however, Deniz Oncu is having more difficult times. The Turk will in fact miss the next two meetings following an operation on his left hand, undergone two weeks ago, from which he has not yet fully recovered.
In the Netherlands as in Germany, Oncu will be replaced by Marcel Schrötter. The German already has experience in the intermediate class since he was engaged there between 2012 and 2022. He will therefore take advantage of these freelance days to put his experience to good use and try to achieve the best possible result.
“First of all, I want to thank KTM, Aki Ajo and all the sponsors for thinking of me to replace Deniz for these two races, he confides before the start of the weekend. I want to wish him a speedy recovery. At the same time, I want to thank my current team for letting me ride here. Riding at Assen and especially at Sachsenring is big news for me, and I can't wait to be back in Moto2.
I think it will be very nice to have more time on the bike to progress, continues Schrötter. I did some testing a few days ago with Moto2, and it's a pleasure to work with this team. I will try to help them with my experience as much as possible. I want to do a good job, do my best and fight for a good result too. »
In the past, the team has had quite a bit of success at Assen, as they took two victories at the event through Raul Fernandez (2021) and Augusto Fernandez (2022). Remy Gardner (2022) and Brad Binder (2019) took second place under the team's banner, while Pedro Acosta finished in third place last season.
