Qualification 1:

Daniel Holgado displayed an example of resilience this Saturday in Australia. After crashing heavily on Friday and missing out on direct qualification for Q2, the Spaniard set the lap record in Q1. With a time of 1:30.197, the Aspar rider, who is vying for the rookie of the year title this weekend at Phillip Island, is back in the saddle.

Ivan Ortola, Albert Arenas and Adrian Huertas completed the top four in Q1, joining the No. 27 in Q2. Joe Roberts finished fifth by just a tenth.

Qualification 2:

While championship leader Manuel Gonzalez wasn't celebrating at the start of the weekend, he's waking up. But he's taking on Diogo Moreira, who's devouring everything in his path. At the end of Q2 of the Moto2 Australian Grand Prix, the Brazilian takes a record pole position, after lowering the circuit's benchmark to 1:29.817. His main championship rival finishes 3rd, behind his teammate and local rider, Senna Agius.

Aron Canet crashed early in the session, damaging his machine. He almost didn't record a single time in Q2. He ultimately clocked the 8th fastest time. His teammate, Barry Baltus, finished 10th in the session. He will therefore start from the 4th row.

For their part, the Aspar drivers, who are competing for the rookie of the year title, finished 5th and 6th. Daniel Holgado ahead of David Alonso.
