This Friday in Australia and more particularly during Moto2 FP2 at Phillip Island, we almost had the successors of Fenati–Manzi. It will be recalled that the Italian duo hit the headlines, notably with Fenati grabbing his opponent's brake lever on the straight during the race. This time, it was Sam Lowes who had a bloodshot against Jesko Raffin. An intimidation maneuver which was not at all to the taste of the officials who logically applied a sanction...
The facts occurred at 180 km/h on the straight leading to the finish and Jesko Raffin still can't believe it. We will not know what led to this action of Sam Lowes against his opponent since the Englishman did not say a word about the incident when receiving his sanction. But there was a penalty and it will force the Gresini driver to start from the back of the starting grid, whatever happens on Saturday in the course of this Moto2 Australian Grand Prix.
Sam Lowes deliberately came into contact with Jesko Raffin. The Englishman had fallen at the start of this FP2. The three FIM MotoGP commissioners, Bill Cumbow, Freddie Spencer and Ralph Bohnhorst imposed this heavy punishment on the Englishman for a violation of article 1.21.2 of the “FIM Grand World Championship Regulations” defining a “ irresponsible behavior” and for “deliberately causing contact with another driver endangering both. »
