Aron Canet was the fastest in the first free practice session of the Catalan Grand Prix in the Moto2 category, the ninth round of the 2022 World Championship scheduled for Montmelò in Barcelona. The Team Pons driver, who posted the best performance with a time of 1'44.450, was ahead of Augusto Fernandez (Red Bull Ajo) by only 24 thousandths and Jake Dixon (Aspar) by 79 thousandths.
Fourth and fifth beats for Sam Lowes (Marc VDS) and Will Bendsneyder (SAG), followed byAlbert Arenas (Aspar), Marcel Schrotter (Intact GP) and the winner of the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello, the rookie and 2021 Moto3 world champion, Peter Acosta (Red Bull Ajo). Closing of the Top Ten Alonso lopez with the Speed Up and Ai Ogura, first in the ranking tied on points with Celestine Vietti (Mooney VR46 Racing Team), 11th in FP1. Joe Roberts et Lorenzo Dalla Porta, Italtrans drivers, occupy 12th and 13th positions, ahead Filip Salac (Gresini).
