The 2018 Moto2 season is expected to be a merciless battle between the Kalex pack and the less numerous KTMs who announced their color at the end of the 2017 campaign. A year which was the very first for the Mattighofen brand in a category that it has completely dominated during the last three Grands Prix with a Miguel Oliveira astonishing. But the Portuguese was also closely followed by teammate Brad Binder, free of his injuries and with newfound confidence. Two drivers under the same awning that could just as easily tear apart on the track...

Having two drivers capable of fighting for victory in your own team is a problem that many team managers would like to have. It will perhaps be that ofAki Ajo this year, in Moto2. If Olive tree, based on its 2017 results, emerges as the natural leader of the KTM structure in the category, Brad Binder showed great abilities by finishing his last vintage with a podium.

A situation that the experienced Aki Ajo evaluates as follows: “ in terms of lap times, Binder and Oliveira were already close at the end of 2017. But Oliveira already had 18 months of experience in Moto2 because he had spent last season with Kiefer. Experience plays an important role. On the other hand, Brad Binder arrived as Moto3 World Champion and he quickly assimilated Moto2. I believe our two drivers will be among the best this season. I can't say more at the moment ».

With his arm injury and a wrist requiring surgery on two occasions, it is agreed that the South African's season only really started last June. Previously, he had to abandon Austin, Jerez and Le Mans. But Olive tree is also a talent: “ Miguel has great potential. He drove 125 in Spain at a very high level when he was young, he was also good in Grand Prix. He has experience and I am convinced that he is at the level of a Pol Espargaró, a Rins or a Viñales. He can fight for victory and will be able to do so one day in MotoGP ».

Incidentally, the challenge is also there: to show KTM that we are the ones who will be able to join the satellite team when it is identified. In 2018, Olive tree et Brad Binder will have their eyes fixed on 2019…
