The Moto2 race saw Francesco Bagnaia and Lorenzo Baldassarri battle for victory. Two Italians, two friends, two members of the VR46 Riders Academy, but also two roommates. The two drivers actually share an apartment in the city of Pesaro, and finding themselves fighting on the track was a lot of fun for them!

In an interview with Anna Maria Di Luca for Sky Sports, Francesco Bagnaia returned to their duel, which they both knew was possible before the start of the race: “Given the results of the tests and practice sessions this weekend, we knew that we could fight for the podium and even for the victory. On Saturday evening we met at the Mobile Clinic and chatted a little, but nothing special. »

One, Bagnaia, won for the first time in his career, the other, Baldassarri, returned to the podium after a complicated 2017 season. Everyone therefore finished the race happy: “At the Parc Fermé we congratulated ourselves because the race was beautiful and we really had fun! He told me that he didn't expect that with the harder rubber I would be able to attack as much and outrun my opponents. Me, on the other hand, I didn't think that he and Álex (Márquez) would manage to close the gap in the last laps. »

Concerning their relationship, “Pecco” confided in each other’s little habits. Although he admitted to being less well organized than Lorenzo, he nevertheless admitted to being the one who does the most cooking and cleaning!

When it comes to challenges, everyone has their own specialty: “At the Play Station I almost always win, on the other hand he makes up for it at the Ranch since he systematically beats me there. »

Fighting at the front of a Grand Prix in the world championship still remains their greatest joy and the roommates hope to be able to repeat the fight: “It would be great to see more weekends like Qatar: fast in practice and a great race. I would like us to have fun like we did in Doha, and then we will see the result. »
