About Diana Tamantini / Motoracing

The reigning Moto3 World Champion is taking his first steps in Moto2 this year and everything is not going as well as expected but he remains positive, certain that “the results will come”.

The beginnings of Lorenzo Dalla Porta in the intermediate category are proving complicated for the moment. The latter indeed encounters difficulties in adapting to the Kalex of the Italtrans team, as we were able to see during the tests and the only Grand Prix contested. The rookie thus crossed the finish line in 24th and penultimate position.

From the tests, the difficulties were visible, in particular because of the Italian's physique (163cm for 58kg, editor's note) and the fact that he had never ridden a 600 or a Moto2 before. “At the moment, power is a big problem”, did he declare. Added to this are the weight and technical innovations. A different preparation is therefore necessary to face this new category.

“At the beginning, after seven or eight rounds, my right arm was really destroyed”, recognized the Italian. “ In a way, everything goes faster in this category. This is obviously not the result we were hoping for but we also had problems with the front tyre. »

These beginnings have therefore not really been optimal, but the rookie remains optimistic: “There is a lot of work to do but I am confident that we will be able to make great progress. » The challenge is significant, but the objective is clear: “Like all beginners, I am aiming for the title of Rookie of the Year. Besides that, I want to learn a lot and as quickly as possible. »
