Moto2 is experiencing its last two seasons with Honda mechanics and in 2019, a new engine will power a field equipped with the single propeller principle. Who will ensure the succession? It's an open secret: nothing is official yet, but everyone knows it will be Triumph based on a 750cc three-cylinder engine known in the English manufacturer's range. It's so true that Marc VDS Racing has already announced its intention to test it.

Triumph approaching the Moto2 starting grid in 2019 is a very clear prospect. And the protagonists are preparing for it. The builders of frame first, because getting the three-cylinder into the frame won't be a simple disassembly and reassembly between the Japanese opus and its Hinckley counterpart.

But this is the first time that a team director has spoken openly about Triumph, to the point of already thinking about testing in 2018. An approach admitted by Michael Bartholemy à speedweek. Which, therefore, also prepares us for the official information of the big change, expected for the next Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez. It will be May 6 and 7.

On the German site, the Belgian specifies: “ next offseason we will do testing in 2018 with the Triumph engine. We'll take ten days of testing from our capital for that. We will do them with our two regular pilots. Then with a test pilot. An original 123 hp engine will suffice. We are a private team, we certainly don't have the means of KTM, but we want to seriously prepare for the 2019 season ».

It will be recalled that Marc VDS Racing was titled in 2014 with Tito Rabat in the category and that he won the first Grand Prix of the year in Qatar with Morbidely.
