Exclusive interview with Fabio Quartararo, French rider for the Speed ​​Up Factory Moto2 team, ahead of the French Grand Prix.

How was the transition from the Kalex to the Speed ​​Up and what are the main differences?
“The most important difference between the two is definitely the rigidity. During my first contact with the Speed ​​Up I encountered difficulties in driving, precisely because of this rigidity. »

What is your bike missing to be able to ride among the first?
“We are working to reach the top five places as soon as possible. We're almost there with the bike, and I basically have to work on my riding style. »

Could having been on four different teams in four years have affected your results?
“It certainly played a role but I prefer to focus on the present rather than the past. »

Are you satisfied with your tenth place in Jerez? Can this mark a starting point for better results?
“Of course, finishing the first European race of 2018 in the top 10 is very positive, especially after three difficult races. I hope to progress more and more. »

Do you think you need to improve certain points of your driving style?
" Yes of course. As I said, I'm focusing a lot on riding the Speed ​​Up, trying to adapt to it race after race. »

What are your goals for 2018?
“This year I did not set myself a specific objective to achieve at the end of the season. I wear it every race. »

Who is the MotoGP rider you admire the most? And what is your relationship with your compatriot Zarco?
“I admire them all, they are all very strong. I get along well with Zarco and I think what he is doing in MotoGP is incredible. »

How will the changes to the regulations in force for 2019 change Moto2?
“No, we haven't tried the Speed ​​Up with the Triumph engine yet, but I'm curious to do it and understand what the bike will be like with a different engine than the one we currently use. »

What do you like about Italy?
“Pizza, pasta (laughs). Lots of things in addition to the motocross circuits where we do some truly incredible training. »
