While most of the teams from the Moto2 and Moto3 World Championships were carrying out their first test session in Valencia, Sky Racing Team VR46 presented its squad, with among its headliners Francesco Bagnaia, winner of two Moto3 Grands Prix in 69 attempts, before finishing fifth in the Moto2 Championship for his first year in this category.

Best rookie in 2017, Bagnaia is one of the favorites for the title this year. Ducati was not mistaken, which plans to enter him in MotoGP in 2019 (probably at Pramac instead of Danilo Petrucci).

“Being among the favorites is a wonderful feeling, believes Francesco. I love reading other riders' interviews and finding out they name me. This is proof that we have done a good job and that the future looks excellent,” he explained to Matteo Aglio of Gpone.com.

Were you surprised by your first season in Moto2?

“No, in the sense that I expected to fight for the rookie of the year title, but I didn't think I would be competitive this quickly. »

If you look back over the last few years, how do you view your path?

“My first two years in the World Championship were difficult, but I am happy with my growth from 2015. I am fast again. »

So much so that now they have spotted you in MotoGP…

“It’s true, they talk about me and that gives me great satisfaction. Once again that means I did a good job, I think it will be a fundamental year for my career. I am in the right situation to play for the title. I can't miss this opportunity. »

Do you feel ready?

“I have learned a lot over the last few years, especially when I was racing with Mahindra. I understood that we must give our best in every situation, we must never lose concentration, it was an experience that made me grow. »

Who will be your rivals?

“Oliveira will definitely be the top rider for KTM, there will be Alex Marquez, Pasini, and Marini is very strong, the top 10 riders are very fast. »

Do you want to ask your Academy friend for advice? Franco Morbidelli ?

“He just told me that I drive well (laugh). I have a different driving style than Franco, but I always have to learn from him. »
