The Friday of the Grand Prix in Indonesia started with a lot of heat and a wet track in the morning, giving way to dry asphalt and better conditions in the afternoon which allowed the drivers to fit slick tires on their machines, to establish their first competitive times. In this game, it was Jake Dixon who showed himself to his advantage. The Englishman recruited by Jorge Martínez Aspar leads the intermediate category in Mandalika with a personal best of 1'35.897, followed quite far by the championship leader, Celestino Vietti (2nd), who dropped a little more than four tenths.
Sam Lowes is 3rd at +0,594, while Peter Acosta placed fourth in the combined table, six tenths. behind Dixon, establishing himself as the best rookie in the category. However, race management informed the Spanish hopeful of a so-called “long lap” penalty after his crash at the second turn for failing to respect the yellow flags. This will force the Murcian to lose 2 to 3 seconds in the race this Sunday.
His teammate in the Red Bull KTM Ajo Team, Augusto Fernandez , started this Indonesian Grand Prix with pace, ranking fifth (+0,739), followed by Fermín Aldeguer (6th +0,750) and the Spaniard Albert Arenas (7th +0,784). Aron canet , who recovered easily from his fall at the second turn, finished 9th (+0,898), ahead of the rookie Manuel González , 10th (1,074) on a track where he already has some experience having raced there in 2021 in the Supersport 600.

The last quarter of an hour has begun. Behind the talented Aldeguer are found Augusto Fernandez, Arbolino, Navarro et Acosta. Aldeguer is by far the fastest driver with 1,4 seconds ahead. The track is drying out and we are starting to see a dry trajectory on certain parts of the route. Furthermore, what is surprising are the empty stands for a Grand Prix announced to be sold out.
The rain has officially stopped and we may just be starting to see the formation of a dry line! 👀
Fingers crossed the rain stays away! 🤞# Moto2 | #IndonesianGP ️ pic.twitter.com/REVuOD6nOD

Under the checkered flag, we leave it there with a solid Aldeguer which will therefore be followed if the Sunday race is carried out on a wet track. Augusto Fernandez follows as followsArbolino, Canet, Navarro, Acosta, Baltus, Kelly et Chantra. Drive, championship leader is a cautious 21st.
