Moto2 Qualifications Indonesia

Moto2 qualifying in Indonesia had a lot of surprises in store. At the end of the suspense, it's Aron Canet who will start from pole position, after a very impressive effort. Now it’s about converting on the run. Before the start, we could legitimately ask ourselves the question about the contenders. Manuel González (Correos Prepago Yamaha VR46 Master Camp) had the best time in the first session, and Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo), in the second. But others were to be watched; to start with Aron Canet (Pons WeGow Los40), faster in the third practice session, and without forgetting Jake Dixon (Gaviota GasGas Aspar Team), who must first escape from Q1.

Even if you know the result, come relive these qualifications with us! Before we begin, here is a table which summarizes the known facts:

1'33.847 Arón Canet

This morning, during P3, the record was broken again, this time by Aron Canet. The bow tie tattoo is one to watch closely. But before that, Q1, with the notable presence ofAlonso lopez (Speed Up Racing).

Quickly, Jake dixon takes command of operations. Given his situation in the championship (third), he can definitely claim much better, even in the next session. Ai Ogura (Honda Team Asia), who is slowly recovering but who has been prominent in Japan, is also well placed.

Many are very fast, including Alonso lopez et Darryn Binder (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP). Everything will be decided in the last lap. Dixon is in the pits; he won't be able to answer! But while at least three drivers turned red in the first sector, none managed to improve! Jake dixon qualifies first, and will be followed in Q2 by Alonso Lopez, Jeremy Alcoba (QJMotor Gresini Racing) et Bo Bendsneyder (Pertamina Mandalika SAG Team). Ai Ogura will not be there! Disillusionment for the Japanese.

Who will start from pole? Answer to this crucial question in less than 15 minutes now. Manuel González draws first, but is challenged by Pedro Acosta, Arón Canet and even, Filip Salač (QJMotor Gresini Racing).

It's far from over, of course. Tony Arbolino (Elf MarcVDS Racing Team), already in great difficulty in the championship, is now on the ground! It's over for him.

It's incredible ! Everyone pushes, and with less than two minutes to go, the first four are held within a hundredth of a second! The atmosphere is unbearable. No one improves though. The times are not faster than in P3, but anything can happen on this last lap. Ultimately, no one can beat the mark achieved earlier by Arón Canet ! He will start from the best position, in front Manuel González et Filip Salač. Pedro Acosta is fourth. The top five are less than a hundredth away. This is one of the closest qualifiers ever, for sure. This gives hope for tomorrow's race, that's a certainty.
