Somkiat Chantra set the best time during the second free practice session of the Italian Grand Prix in the Moto2 category at Mugello, eighth stage of the 2022 World Championship. The Asia Team rider set the fastest lap in 1'52.350, ahead of Red Bull Ajo Team riders Augusto Fernandez and reigning Moto3 World Champion rookie Pedro Acosta.

Fourth and fifth place for Albert Arenas (GasGas) and for Tony Arbolino (Marc VDS), followed by Aron canet (Pons), Joe Roberts (Italtrans), Manuel Gonzalez (VR46 Master Camp), Sam Lowes (Marc VDS) and Fermin Aldeguer (SpeedUp). In addition to these pilots, Celestino Vietti, Niccolò Antonelli, Jake Dixon, which remains the fastest of the day with the FP1 time, and Filip Salac are also provisionally qualified for Q2.

With 28 minutes to go, the times are changing quickly: Lowes holds the line in 1.51.864s ahead Canet, Dalla Porta, Acosta, Arbolino, Pasini, Fernandez, Schrotter, Navarro and Beaubier

Fernandez very fit took 2nd position in 1.51.949, behind Lowes and in front of Canet.

Canet, once again, is present…he is 3rd in 1.52.001s
